A Mighty Wind
Here's a post I wouldn't have thought I'd be writing today. Last night I got a call on my way home from the lovely Mrs. Dave and she said something to the effect of The Gazebo is in the middle of the yard and I don't think we'll be able to fix it. Eeeek. Over the past weekend, we bought and put together a small gazebo-ish screened-in canopy for the deck out back. It was a great idea, it gets pretty hot out there in the summer and makes it all but unusable because it gets so much afternoon and evening sun. I can't remember the last time we just spent time out on the deck enjoying ourselves aside from grilling dinner.
So, I get the call on the way home, and all I can do is shake my head. I get home and find that she wasn't exagerrating. This was the view from our kitchen:

So, suddenly my job for the night was to dismantle as much as I could of the thing. I got about halfway through. So now what to do about it? Go back to Lowe's and ask them if there is a return policy for dumb-asses? The only things that are truly irreversibly damaged on it are the crossbars that hold one corner to the other. I'm not as sure about the roof, but that might have a small problem. I don't know, I may contact the manufacturer and see if they'll send us new crossbars. We shall see.
Oy! Life!
